A Prayer for the Aerospace Industry

At our recent event, Reimagining Work Vol. 7: Aerospace in LA, our own Robert Covolo blessed attendees with a prayer of benediction to encourage them in their daily work. Whether you work in this field or in a completely different vocation, we hope you feel the power of this prayer and let the words wash over you and your work today.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We pray for workers in the aerospace industry. You are a God of design and innovation; you designed and built the garden, you made the first clothes, you provided the specifications for an enormous ark, you laid out the exact design and planning for the temple, and you took on flesh as a designer and builder of things from wood and stone in a carpenter’s shop in the person of Jesus. And you have called us to explore and harness your creation for ways to glorify you and foster life and flourishing.

You have called us to explore and harness your creation for ways to glorify you and foster life and flourishing.

Please help your people to be faithful engineers, scientists, assemblers, technicians, and project managers who encourage a culture of transparency, innovation, responsible resource management, collaboration, and mutual support. Inform design trades with wisdom and prudence inspired by the privilege to create new things.

Help them improve the old techniques and discover new ways to code, simulate, model, and develop our products that provide new insights to the workings of things and how they may serve good purposes. Make them sensitive to the pressures of costs, schedules, performance trades and the numerous issues that need to be stewarded.

Give project and program managers as well as those overseeing finances integrity and honesty with all stakeholders, subcontractors, and customers. Aid the office administrators, technicians, planners, assemblers and all the workers that make the facilities and operations run smoothly.

We pray you give those in aerospace noble missions and projects to work on that advance human understanding of your created world and cosmos. May they do so with a humble curiosity and wonder that leads to worship rather than a false hubris that assumes unlimited human potential. Help them advance technical accomplishments which lead to services that truly benefit the needs of humanity.

We pray you give those in aerospace noble missions and projects to work on that advance human understanding of your created world and cosmos.

Give them joy in bringing order from chaos, elegance and structure to well-designed components, subsystems, and systems, and the opportunity to share your goodness and redemptive purposes in all this in the gospel of our Lord.

Great God, you are Lord over this aerospace industry in all its endeavors. Please help these your servants here today to be a blessing to their work and their colleagues with your goodness, favor, and presence in all they do.

In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
