At our recent event, Reimagining Work Vol. 8: Finance in LA, Kristen Yi, the VP of Finance & Controller of an independent film production company + one of our panelists, blessed attendees with a prayer of benediction written by our own Steve Lindsey, to encourage them in their daily work.
If you work in this field in any capacity, we hope you feel seen, prayed over and sent into your daily work. If you work in any other industry, may the Holy Spirit remind you that you and your field matter to Him as well, from the minute details to the big picture decisions.
Dear Father in Heaven,
We want to thank you for the many ways we can glorify you through our work in this important sector of finance. Bless us to bring order out of the confusion around money, investing, advising, lending and borrowing, monitoring assets and liabilities, creating value, managing wealth, and tracking profits and losses.
Father, clear up our mixed feelings around the topic of money. Help us see how it can be used to reflect your nature through those who bear your image. Make us bring structure to your creation and provide resources that enable great productivity for good, honoring of commitments, and providing resources where they are needed.
Remind us that money is meant to serve and not master its stewards and that only you are our ultimate Master. Keep us vigilant to guard against exploitation and greed. Help us to have the courage to call out corruption and extortion. Give us a vision for Christ’s redemptive work in the world that touches all areas of our lives and our work for its intended restorative purpose and blessing.

Please bless each of us who labors in the various work of finance. Honor their diligence in providing the services, tools, data analytics, assessments, sales, contracts, and project management related to their work. Help us see how your good purposes for this world are realized through their efforts as businesses operate and flourish, the entire supply chain of workers get paid, and so many goods and services become available through the diligent efforts of finance.
Guide and protect us as we return to our places of work to love and serve you well and in turn love and serve our neighbor.

Steve leads the vision and overall ministry of the Center for Faith + Work Los Angeles. Prior to this position, Steve served as an aerospace executive at The Boeing Company managing satellite systems engineers and retired after 36 years with the company.
