A Prayer for Soul Replenishment and Blessing

At our recent event, Reimagining Work Vol. 9: Spiritual Disciplines for Our Current Moment, Margaret Lindsey—our own Co-Director here at CFWLA—blessed attendees with thoughtful teaching and guidance on how to infuse our daily lives with more stillness as well as what it looks like to cultivate intentional space to commune with the Lord.

Here, Margaret graces us all again with a prayer of replenishment and blessing. In whatever capacity you work or spend your days, we hope you feel seen, prayed over, and refreshed by the words below.

Dear God,

We have come through a period of time where cycles of disappointment and loss have come from living in a world marked by sin and have left our souls depleted and in need of replenishment.

We are longing for the good life because our souls have the distant memory of their design; we were not made to navigate a sinful world.

Help us carve out space in our days to still our hearts and receive revelation from Your Word, to commune with You, and become grounded in Your hesed-steadfast lovingkindness for us.

The battleground of our hearts is one of temptation. We are tempted to reach for relief and good feelings on our own terms, instead of asking You for the strength and endurance to persevere in faith until the end. We are tempted to grab a taste of the Kingdom without the King, instead of turning to You and receiving the glimmers of Your hesed-steadfast love which strengthen our faith.

Help us carve out space in our days to still our hearts and receive revelation from Your Word, to commune with You, and become grounded in Your hesed-steadfast lovingkindness for us.

Cause us to notice the glimpses of Your Kingdom that shine through our good work in this world and strengthen our hope for the future.

We ask for Your blessing before we go to work each day, so we enter our work with our identities secure in You, not looking to our work as the source of our worth, not striving to make a name for ourselves or prove our significance.

Holy Spirit, we ask that You fill our hearts with Your hesed-healing attachment love and help us remember Your blessing as we do the work You have called us to do each day for Your Glory.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.
